reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry
4pm - 5pm | 14 Nov 2017

reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry is a national program that provides Australian schools in Foundation to Year 10 with resources to help students learn mathematics in an innovative and engaging way. Resources are available free to all Australian students and teachers. The program is managed by the Australian Academy of Science in collaboration with the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers, and is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.

At the centre of reSolve is the reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry Protocol. This sets out a vision for teaching and learning mathematics and underpins all aspects of the project. The protocol is organised around three focal points:

  • reSolve mathematics is purposeful
  • reSolve tasks are challenging yet accessible
  • reSolve classrooms have a knowledge-building culture.

This session introduces the elements of the reSolve project, the spirit of inquiry, the reSolve protocol, and provides an opportunity to look at classroom resources.

Presented by Kelly Watson, a reSolve Champion and Year 5 teacher at Geelong College, this session is for current Geelong College teaching and support staff.
