On Wednesday 23rd October the Junior School Learning Outdoors team hosted a viewing of the award-winning film – Nature Play, Take back Childhood.
Staff, parents and colleagues from schools and kindergartens in our region came to watch the film, which reminds us of the importance of letting children play, learn and explore outdoors. Documentation of Geelong College’s Learning Outdoors program was also shared.
The film, which was shot mainly in Denmark, explains how all their schools from Early Learning to Secondary School have a major focus on learning and being outdoors. Every day, they spend a minimum of an hour outside, as well as other classes, no matter the weather. All curriculum areas are incorporated into the outdoor program.
The film illustrated the importance of our Bush Connections program and Nature Play area at the Junior School.
