Fourteen Geelong College Studio Art and Art/Photography students have had a trip to remember, visiting Tasmania's famous MONA museum and Dark Mofo festival. The College students and staff were completely immersed in contemporary art and culture at the Museum of Old and New Art, the commercial galleries around Salamanca Arts Centre in Hobart, as well as the renowned Dark Mofo festival that takes hold of Hobart and its surrounds at the end of Term 2.
The optional trip was organised as part of Unit 4 of Studio Art: Art Industry and Context, which requires students to visit at least two exhibition spaces in a year. They have visited the National Gallery of Victoria, Bendigo Art Gallery and Boom Gallery in Geelong, to develop their ability to examine and explain the preparation and presentation of artworks, and discuss the roles, processes and methods involved in exhibiting artworks.
The Tasmania experience was captured on film by College teacher Sam McIntosh
