Dr. Paul Browning says that the key ingredient to a positive culture in a school or, for that matter, any organisation in the education or corporate spheres, is trust. A lack of trust, either throughout an organisation or towards a supervisor/leader, is the main barrier to improvement.
In 2008 Dr Browning was appointed as Headmaster of St Paul’s School. Upon his arrival, Paul led St Paul’s School through a major restructure to create a unique middle management model designed to coach and develop teachers in key 21st century pedagogies. His PhD research into the practices that engender trust has been turned into an ebook and is designed to be a resource for anyone wishing to develop their leadership capacity and improve their school’s learning environment.
The findings are a practical guide for leaders wishing to create outstanding schools.
